Keeping momentum, maintaining motivation

Hi everyone!
So it's a HOT day here today! And I had just stepped outside to get a bit of fresh air when I remembered that I needed to blog! So here goes:

Today I want to talk about some of my struggles with motivation. And this does not only apply to my work as a clinician but also to working as a researcher or academic. Lately, I find myself so easily tired of looking at literature or analyzing data or having to think about abstracts and conclusions and conferences! 😒

But the difficult thing for me to grasp is that usually I enjoy discovering things and anticipating conferences because of the opportunity to network and meet new people, etc. So the psychologist in me is now wondering what is wrong with the academic in me...😕. This dilemma of mine certainly makes me a chore to be around. And I find myself doing quite a number of interesting things to ensure that I meet my deadlines -- but that is a topic for another day. Lol!

So this leads me to the more clinical question: what would you tell a client who struggles to remain motivated? Especially if you know that they had a lot of passion for the particular endeavour, and yet they're now struggling to keep the momentum going? Is that something that they need to be worried about? And how do you keep yourself from being sucked into that state?

I'm sure some of you may have come across such a situation before, or perhaps you have also experienced such de-motivation before. If so, I would be interested to know how you overcame this.

I would love to know what you think so I hope you'll leave a comment or two. Let's get this discussion going!
