A journey of a thousand miles...

So I've been busy setting up this blog and trying to think of interesting things to include in the calendar of activities for the YPN Network. And this is hard work! 😱

But it has also been interesting to see the different phases and nooks and dimensions that psychology as a field can (and does!) take.

So far, the core team has discussed how to move this group forward, and we've discussed having one meeting every other month and then one MEGA convention towards the end of the year.

The monthly meetings will ideally be informal mixers where we "check-in" with each other; we will have the opportunity to share dreams, ideas and challenges in small groups but also in the larger group if desired. Considering how busy everyone generally is, these monthly meetings will be short and sweet, so please let's all commit to being there each time.

We will also look at bringing in some resource persons to give us a 20-minute talk/discussion to close things off each month; and so we welcome ideas for topics and resource persons that you would like to meet with.

Then of course, we will have our Annual General Meeting at the end of the year where we will have the chance to hold more in-depth discussions and presentations, and also to plan for the year ahead. And importantly, to let loose!! That is, if we can get some funding...

So please watch this blog, because we will be updating it with information and topics and features as we develop them, and as we finalize plans.

New journeys, new opportunities!

Finally, the journey to create this Network has began! 💃

For those of you whom I have spoken to in the past, you'll appreciate how long this has been in the making. If you're new to this idea, then suffice it to say that our drawing board has grown from empty to cluttered to dusty and everything in between! 😀 But thankfully, we have taken that bold first step.

The Young Psychologists' Network (YPN) is envisioned to be a forum for sharing ideas, celebrating successes, supporting with challenges, and generally developing each other in our careers. As most of us know, this field we're in can be quite cut-throat and so we're hoping that this provides a safe space for mutual growth and support.

So this is just a short note to share how excited we are to have this Network up and running, and to implore you to make your presence felt. This is OUR space and we can do wonderful, exciting things if we work together at this.
